About me

Welcome to my homepage!

As a qualified freight forwarding and logistics specialist, transport specialist, training instructor and freelance lecturer, I have gained a great deal of experience in the field of freight forwarding and logistics. I learned about the work processes and tools required for maintenance and repairs via various skilled manual tasks in the car and lorry sector, in the freight forwarding company's own workshop and during the construction of my parents' house.

While training, I noticed that the range of specialist technical dictionaries in these fields was very limited and not suitable for everyday use. Through my work in adult education, I became increasingly aware of the importance of a relevant specialist dictionary series.

I started my collection of technical terms during my training in an international freight forwarding company in 2004. I have been translating my technical vocabulary for daily English correspondence since that time. This prompted me to write my own English/German specialist dictionary series. I have been able to gain an ample amount of practical experience as a result of my experience abroad and my professional activities in procurement, warehousing and distribution logistics, in system and groupage transport, transport scheduling and from my technical background. This experience and the resulting expertise have been incorporated into my dictionaries.

Having a book for everyday situations in which German technical terms can be easily found and subsequently used is really important to me.

My principle is: 'Words travel around the world and connect people'.

Words form sentences; the sentences form texts and are the foundation of communication.

Whether spoken or written.

This specialist dictionary series will help you expand your general German vocabulary and improve your technical German for work in a global economy. Worldwide communication is essential in the world today, and basically a prerequisite for everyday life, work, school, studies, etc.

I’m glad of any and all feedback, whether praise, criticism, suggestions or comments, so please feel free to shoot me a message!

2.2 This website uses SSL or TLS encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of personal data and other confidential content (e.g. orders or enquiries to the controller). The character string "https://" and the lock symbol in your browser bar show that a connection is encrypted.

3) Cookies

To make visiting our website attractive and to enable the use of certain functions, we use cookies, i.e. small text files that are stored on your device. Some of these cookies are automatically deleted after you close your browser (session cookies), while others remain on your device for longer and enable page settings to be saved (persistent cookies). In the latter case, the storage period can be found in your web browser’s cookie settings overview.

If personal data is also processed by individual cookies used by us, the processing is carried out in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 (b) GDPR either for the execution of the contract, in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 (a) GDPR in the case of consent given, or in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 (f) GDPR to safeguard our legitimate interests in the best possible functionality of the website and a customer-friendly and effective website design.

4) Contact us

Personal data is collected when you contact us (e.g. via the contact form or e-mail). The data that is collected when the contact form is used is the same data that is put into the contact form. This data is stored and used exclusively for the purpose of responding to your enquiry or for contacting you and the associated technical administration.

If the aim of your contact is to conclude a contract, the additional legal basis for the processing is Art. 6 Para. 1 (b) GDPR. Your data will be deleted after your enquiry has been processed. This is the case if it can be inferred from the circumstances that the matter in question has been conclusively clarified and provided that there are no statutory retention obligations to the contrary.

5) Web analysis services

5.1 Google Analytics 4

This website uses Google Analytics 4, a web analysis service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland ("Google"), which enables your use of our website to be analysed.

Google Analytics sets 4 cookies by default when you visit the website, which are stored as small text modules on your device and collect certain information. This information also includes your IP address, which, however, is shortened by Google by the last digits in order to exclude any direct personal reference.

The information is transmitted to Google servers and processed there. Transmission to Google LLC, based in the USA, is also possible.

Google uses the information collected on our behalf to analyse your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity for us and to provide other services relating to website activity and Internet usage. The abbreviated IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. The data collected as part of the use of Google Analytics 4 is stored for a period of two months and then deleted.

All processing described above, in particular the setting of cookies on the device used, will only take place if you have given us your express consent for this in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 (a) GDPR.

Without your consent, Google Analytics 4 will not be used during your website visit. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. To exercise your right of withdrawal, please disable this service using the cookie consent tool provided on the website.

We have concluded an order processing agreement with Google, which ensures the protection of our website visitors’ data and prohibits unauthorised disclosure to third parties.

Further legal information about Google Analytics 4 can be found at
https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en&gl=en and at
https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

Demographic characteristics
Google Analytics 4 uses the special "demographic characteristics" function and can use this to generate statistics that make statements about the age, gender and interests of site visitors. This is done by analysing advertising and information from third-party providers. This allows target groups to be identified for marketing activities. However, the data collected cannot be assigned to a specific person and is deleted after being stored for a period of two months.

Google Signals
As an extension to Google Analytics 4, Google Signals can be used on this website to generate cross-device reports. If you have enabled personalised ads and linked your devices to your Google account, Google may, subject to your consent to the use of Google Analytics in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 (a) GDPR, analyse your usage behaviour across devices and create database models, including for cross-device conversions. We do not receive any personal data from Google, only statistics. If you would like to stop the cross-device analysis, you can disable the "Personalised advertising" function in the settings of your Google account. To do this, follow the instructions on this page: https://support.google.com/ads/answer/2662922?hl=en Google Signals at the following link: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/7532985?hl=en

UserIDs
As an extension to Google Analytics 4, the "UserIDs" function can be used on this website. If you have consented to the use of Google Analytics 4 in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 (a) GDPR, have set up an account on this website and log in with this account on different devices, your activities, including conversions, can be analysed across devices.

5.2 Google Tag Manager

This website uses "Google Tag Manager", a service from the following provider Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (hereinafter: “Google").

Google Tag Manager provides a technical basis for combining various web applications, including tracking and analysis services, and for calibrating, controlling and attaching conditions to them via a standardised user interface. Google Tag Manager itself does not store or read any information on user devices. The service also does not carry out any independent data analyses. However, Google Tag Manager transmits your IP address to Google when you access a page and may store it there. It may also be transmitted to servers of Google LLC in the USA.

This processing is only carried out if you have given us your express consent to it in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 (a) GDPR. Without this consent, Google Tag Manager will not be used during your visit to the site. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. To exercise your withdrawal, please disable the service in the cookie consent tool provided on the website.

We have concluded an order processing agreement with the provider, which ensures the protection of our website visitors’ data and prohibits unauthorised disclosure to third parties.

For data transfers to the USA, the provider has joined the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which ensures compliance with the European level of data protection on the basis of an adequacy decision by the European Commission.

6) Page functionalities

6.1 Google Maps

This website uses an online map service from the following provider: Google Maps (API) from Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland (“Google”).

Google Maps is a web service that shows interactive (land) maps to visually display geographical information. Using this service shows you our location which will make it easy for you to find us.

Information about your use of our website (such as your IP address) is transmitted to Google servers and stored there when you access the sub-pages in which Google Maps is integrated; this information may also be transmitted to the servers of Google LLC. in the USA. This occurs regardless of whether you are logged into a user account provided by Google or whether a user account exists. If you are logged in to Google, your data will be assigned directly to your account. If you do not want the data to be assigned to your Google profile, you will need to log out before enabling the button. Google stores your data (even for users who are not logged in) as usage profiles and analyses them.

The collection, storage and analysis are carried out in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 (f) GDPR based on Google's legitimate interest in showing personalised advertising, market research and/or the needs-based design of Google websites. You have the right to object to the creation of these user profiles, although you must contact Google to exercise this right. If you do not agree to your data being transmitted to Google in future in connection with the use of Google Maps, you also have the option of completely disabling the Google Maps web service by switching off the JavaScript application in your browser. You will then be unable to use Google Maps and therefore also the map display on this website.

To the extent legally required, we have obtained your consent to the processing of your data as described above in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 (a) GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. To exercise your right of withdrawal, please follow the option described above for making an objection.

For data transfers to the USA, the provider has joined the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which ensures compliance with European data protection levels on the basis of an adequacy decision by the European Commission.

6.2 Google Web Fonts

This site uses web fonts from the following provider for the standardised display of fonts: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland

When you access a page, your browser loads the required web fonts into your browser cache to correctly display texts and fonts and establishes a direct connection to the provider's servers. During this process, specific browser information, including your IP address, is transmitted to the provider.

Data may also be transmitted to: Google LLC, USA

The processing of personal data as part of establishing a connection with the font provider is only carried out if you have given us your express consent to this in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 (a) GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by disabling this service using the cookie consent tool provided on the website. If your browser does not support web fonts, a standard font will be used by your computer.

For data transfers to the USA, the provider has joined the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which ensures compliance with the European level of data protection on the basis of an adequacy decision by the European Commission.

6.3 Google reCAPTCHA

On this website we use the CAPTCHA service of the following provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland

Data may also be transmitted to: Google LLC, USA. The provider uses Google Fonts, i.e. fonts downloaded from the Internet by Google, for the visual design of the Captcha window. There is no processing of information other than that mentioned above, which is already transmitted to Google via the ReCaptcha functionality.

The service checks whether an input is made by a natural person or abusively by machine and automated processing, and blocks spam, DDoS attacks and similar automated malicious access. To ensure that an action is performed by a human and not by an automated bot, the provider collects the IP address of the device used, identification data of the browser and operating system type used, as well as the date and duration of the visit and transmits these to the provider's servers for evaluation.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in establishing individual responsibility on the Internet and preventing misuse and spam in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 (f ) GDPR.

We have concluded an order processing contract with the provider, which ensures the protection of the data of our website visitors and prohibits unauthorised disclosure to third parties.

For data transfers to the USA, the provider has joined the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which ensures compliance with the European level of data protection on the basis of an adequacy decision by the European Commission.

The cookie consent tool is displayed to users when they access the website in the form of an interactive user interface, on which consent for certain cookies and/or cookie-based applications can be granted by ticking a box. By using the tool, all cookies/services requiring consent are only loaded if the user gives their consent by ticking the box, which ensures that cookies are only set on the user's device when the user has consented to them.

The tool sets technically necessary cookies for saving your cookie preferences. Personal user data is not processed in this context.

If, in individual cases, personal data (such as the IP address) is processed for the purpose of storing, assigning or logging cookie settings, this is done in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 (f) GDPR on the basis of our legitimate interest in legally compliant, user-specific and user-friendly consent management for cookies and thus in a legally compliant design of our website.

A further legal basis for the processing is Art. 6 Para. 1 (c) GDPR. As the controller, we are subject to the legal obligation to make the use of technically unnecessary cookies dependent on the respective user consent.

Where necessary, we have concluded an order processing contract with the provider, which ensures the protection of the data of our website visitors and prohibits unauthorised disclosure to third parties.

IF YOU EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO OBJECT, WE WILL STOP PROCESSING THE DATA CONCERNED. HOWEVER, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CONTINUE PROCESSING IF WE CAN DEMONSTRATE COMPELLING LEGITIMATE GROUNDS FOR THE PROCESSING WHICH OVERRIDE YOUR INTERESTS, FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS, OR IF THE PROCESSING IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF ASSERTING, EXERCISING OR DEFENDING LEGAL CLAIMS.

IF YOUR PERSONAL DATA IS PROCESSED BY US FOR THE PURPOSE OF DIRECT MARKETING, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO OBJECT AT ANY TIME TO THE PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA CONCERNING YOU FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUCH MARKETING. YOU MAY EXERCISE THE OBJECTION AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.

IF YOU EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO OBJECT, WE WILL STOP PROCESSING THE DATA CONCERNED FOR DIRECT MARKETING PURPOSES.
